Yes. Run what the manual says. Octane is just a combustion inhibitor, you WILL NOT SEE MORE PERFORMANCE OR BETTER GAS MILEAGE OUT OF AN ENGINE NOT DESIGNED FOR HIGH OCTANE.

It doesn't clean your engine, or any of that crap.

A friend at work just got an 04 Matrix 2 weeks ago and she's also complaining that gas mileage is not as good as it should be. I hope its got nothing to do with the fact that the car is north american built.. but I wouldn't doubt it.
