ae92 shift question

i have a question for all you ae92 peeps

im wondering how the shifting is because it just seems odd that when i shift into 5th gear it only drops like 500 Rpm's is this the same for all ae92's

Like, when your driving, you shift into 5th and your RPMs drop to 500? >no matter what RPM you were just at before you shifted? Thats not supposed to do that!

nono.. i think he means it only droped 500rpm... (ie. from 3000rpm to 2500rpm)...

anyways.. yes.. it's normal... cuz of the gear ratio...

it's normal...the culprit is the gearing...if u shifted at 6000rpm from 4th into 5th the difference would not be 500 rpm :p

It's called.. "Overdrive" gear and yes its only like a 500rpm difference. I'd love to have a JDM 6-speed transmission to see what the gearing is in those mofos.

well the #6 isnt higher than #5, the gears are just closer to each other, so you get better acceleration (and more arm work)
