burning plastic

when you run over a plastic bag and it clings to the exhaust pipe, how long does it take to clear that burning plastic smell?

I ran over one before the winter and the smell is still around. maybe Im burning something else...

Yea if u get down there u can use a carb cleaner.. I'd recommend Valvoline SynPower.. spray it on (with the exhaust not being hot) and scrap.. it'll come right off..

For real.. I see plastic bag on the road, I swerve like I'm gonna hit a moose.. cuz if it was a small animal (squirrel, cat, dog, etc..) there's no way in hell I would swerve.

Trust me, you can never get these bloody plastic bags off the exhaust system.... they stick on to them like its coted with glue guns. i've tried brake cleaner, throttle body cleaners, wire brush, sand paper, scrappers, WD40, and never can get these things off.... best way i find is drive it on highway, and scrape them off as much as possible...

You could hack up the car and try one of those little propane torches to remelt it before scraping it off. Depending on where it is of course. Don't want to set the car on fire or burn through the undercarriage.

I haven't had it.. I've run over bags.. lol

I seriously don't see how you guys can't get it off.. I would go with the torch idea.. shit.. I think after a good 1,600F that bag smell won't return lol.
Only burning problem I've had is since I painted my front rotors on the hub and top of the rotor to protect from rust.. Well when I gotta get hard on the brakes that paint turns to liquid.. lol and when I come to a stop smoke just pours out from my tires.. smells like burning paint.. and looks fuckin awesome lol. Worth it if you ask me.. I fuckin hate rust.. specially for the reason of, why would I spend money on rims (granted not that much as I dont' go for the ricer/wigger chrome bullshit look) and then have horrible looking calipers and rotors?! I did paint my rear calipers.. those don't get hot enough to fuck the paint and they look great.. except i didn't do the rotors so those look horrible.. lol.
