Thumbs up Woo Woo!! 300,000km today baby!!

Yeeeea baby!!!! 300 fukin thousand km's on my car today!! it was funny, I was actually yelling and screaming and whistling when I saw 2999999999999... on the speedometer it was like new years eve all over again.

Now my problem has just begun, and I hope I get some feedback from all you ae92 owners and maybe even all owners in general. I got 2 choices really.

Do I go for a timing belt/water pump replacement on an engine that I know has been neither abused nor neglected but has lots of highway driving and could eventually develop problems like any high mileage motor would.

OR

Do I go for a low KM JDM 4AGE swap, which is probably gonna cost me the same as if I got the TB/WP job done, but who knows really what condition it will be in, is it really low km and if it has really been abused or not.

what do you guys think?? I'd appreciatte all the feedback that I can get since I'm really serious about this topic, I mean Cam had over 300,000km on his original 4AGE but I doubt his car even came near the amount of abuse I put into mine.. I shouldn't really call it abuse, but I redline a few times and I love spirited driving when I get the chance, which is everyday really .

i'd change the timing belt, but i'd leave the water pump till it shows signs of failure

unless you're worried about it just quitting on the hwy sometime this summer, when's the last time it was changed?

First off, Congrat!!!!! Woot! your car is extra old now!!!

in my opinion, i would do the timing belt by your self. and save the money on labour etc etc etc..... wait till the engine actually blow the cylinder wall in to many peices than get the engine swapped in.

depands on how you feel like i guess, if you have plenty of money to blow, i'd say swap in a GZE! if you want to save money for the engine, just change timing belt...and save till it blows.

other you can do is run the thing till the timing belt snaps
non interfirence.

either way! Congrat on 300,000 aniversary

300k!!!!!

I wonder, would this affect your resale value?

Wait a minute... I just reread your post.... 300K Kilometers
not miles. : hmm that is about187.500 miles. Well is not the 300k miles I first thought, but it is still impressive I guess.

Keep your current engine. No matter what your gonnna end up with something used. The Only way I'd go is for a freshly rebuilt engine or a new one... though a new one is quite unlikley unless you get atlantic serise as far as 16V goes.

Got 140,odd miles on the stock timing belt in my 4afe ae92. Bought a replacement about 3 years ago and "installed" it in the trunk. Just haven't goten around to changing it yet.

So what.. if I run it till the belt snaps.. wouldn't the cylinders get all fucked up?? or is the 4AGE one of those.. umm.. what they call them engines.. you know.. the belts snaps but the engine doesn't get damage.

as for the water pump being changed.. I'm not sure when the last time was.. I bought the car at 211,000km so I don't know.. but I would hope the last owner changed it along with the timing belt at 198,000km.
