Certified Pre-Owned Gas Mileage

Hey All...

n00b here...

I meticulously measure gas mileage (Via WAP phone and custom developed app) and recently got a certified pre-owned 03 corolla LE auto. I hit 35mpg the first tank, but have been under 30 since then, as low as 27. I don't think I am driving different or pushing the car too hard, but I'm going to have my wife drive the next tank for testing. Can anyone tell me what you are getting in your similar car? I hit a bit of stop-and-go traffic in the AM (10 miles) but its all highway the rest of the way...

Anyone with similar rolla's want to post their MPG?

thx...alfa

Mine has the same engine and I have peaked at 39mpg (I also keep excellent track) on a tank with about 4/5 highway driving at 75mph or so. My lowest is about 27mpg. My average over the first 40,000 miles was 33mpg. Keep in mind mine is a stick. The auto is not as effecient.
That being said my opinion is that on a tank with 2/3 or more highway driving with an auto trans and one passeger with less than 50 pounds of cargo and speeds under 80mph an 03 Corolla LE should average 33-35mpg.

My 2000 Corolla (all highway with just myself in the car) gets roughly 35 to 40mpg in the warmer months when I don't have to let the car warm up. My all time best milage was 42mpg but that was when I was driving on back road never surpassing 55mph.

Doing better

Added some Techron and added air to a tire that was a bit low and got 33.3mpg on a trip to delaware with 300lbs of passengers, luggage for 4, etc. Thanks for the help!
