I'm a newbie here, but not when it comes to BBS forums about customizing my ride.
I currently own a Y2K 4runner and am looking to buy a 2003 Corolla sport for my wife and I. Can't you se I'm a big TOY fan?
Brian aka "bzride" actually redirected me here. I hope to get all the insights and info regarding our soon to be car.
What I'm planning to do is use the Corolla as a daily driver whereas the 4runner will be mainly hobby from then on. The thing is we currently live and work downtown and just bought a new house North of Toronto. We want something very economical and very reliable, but still looks good. I think Toyota did an awesome job with the 2003.
Future mods for the Corolla will be lowering springs/coil-over, low profile tires and 17"wheels . That's pretty much it. Overall, I think the stock kit for the Sport looks great and I wouldn't change that.
What I'd be needing from you, experts, are resources on "how tos" and places where Ican get good deals. And some inspiration and kudos as well.

Actually if you are looking for a person to speak with in a Toy dealer, we know someone who works at Don Valley North and his name is Jimmy Lee.
He owns a Celica (with some mods) and he had chatted with CeliSpeed members before. I also met him in person, he's a cool guy.
I would say go for the 2003 Corolla, it definitely won't disappoint. Not sure about putting coilovers and 17" in a daily driver though (esp. if your wife is driving it too). The stock "S" kit is subtle yet sporty.
I think the '03 'rolla is gorgeous. AS for performance and reliabilty, it's a Toyota!
I would have to agree with Elegant about the suspsion if you intend to have it as a daily driver for the wifey. Unless, you're real intention is to have it as another project for you
It seems like every body wants a rolla. You guys should organize a group buy
Bzride,
Thanks for pointing me here. I'm sure I'll learn a lot here.
Confused-girl,
No, I havent bought it yet. I still have to make an appointment with the dealer. It might be a good idea to organize a group deal, if you're up for it.
elegantcam,
thanks for the welcome. I actually know someone there too. The same guy I got my 4Runner from. Jason Lalonde, I think he's related to the manager or something. He's ok too.
About the Corolla, what would you suggest i do? should i go with the stock skirt or aftermarket? i doubt there's lots of aftermarket for it yet. As for suspension, would it be better for 16" wheels instead? It will be driven daily, but not far distances. I also want it to look good. besides, i think it could use some lowering since the cener of gravity is too high...looks too tall.
Also, should I go with TRD stuff (205/45vR16 Nitto with 16 rims, 1.25' lowering springs, sports struts) so I can get it installed and included in the purchase? or should i go with aftermarket and which ones are good?
Phi,
thanks. i think i will organize a group buy.
i'll let my dealer know.

I think there isn't a need to get another kit if you're going to purchase the "S" version. What's most important (IMO) is the drop - the car looks huge with the stock springs.
16" should be pretty good for a Corolla without sacrificing lots of performance. For the 2002 Camry it'll need 18" to look good.
PS: I don't think there are TRD parts available for 2003 yet, but most of them are all re-badged products made by other company anyway.
man the new 2003 corolla looks freakin' cool...at first I thought it was the new camry or maybe an IS 300..but then I was like..a corolla?? I didn't know they had redesigned it so fast...
I personally love corollas...have a 1988 GTS and a 93...but would love to have a 20003 model...
go for it...car might cost more than others in its class (to amnerican cars) but its worth the money..
