factory CD players

I have been looking in ebay for a Toyota CD player to replace the stock tape deck. I want to replace it since I dont have any use for a tape deck.

Well, over at ebay the a 98-02 CD player goes for round $100 while the 03 and up can be "buyed now" for $40. Why so much difference in price? I guess the newer ones only work on the current curolla and cannot be used on a different car.

I guess I am better off just getting a pioneer or sony cd/mp3 player. I just dont like the way aftermarket radios look on the dash. (I dont want a christmas tree on my dash).

BTW, I also saw a instrument cluster from a 01 corolla that had a black background and red gauges. From what model is this?

If you look around you can find some pretty simple cd players. Not all of them are done up with lights and crap :P

Eclipse, Alpine, and Clarion have some nice decks that don't have all the rice on them like some Sony's do.

Rice!

That is exactly the word that describes those stereos. I actually like the aesthetics of the stock cassette deck. I am going to check Clarion and alpine out

Sony = rice
kenwood = redneck

That'd be my car, the 2001 Corolla S.

My car looks like a christmas tree stock because I have red gauges but the other dash lights (stereo+air,etc) are green

PS If you want a stereo with green lights I believe most Alpines have green.
