is this the coolant sensor?

I was having problems with the AC fan being on all the time even if the engine was cold and with the other radiator fan would not turning on at all. Me and a friend of mine tested the non working motor and it turned out that it was bad.

So i replaced it, but now I have two fans turning on as soon as I turned the key to the on position. We then serched for the culprit and found it. It is a a sensor near the thermostat. We tested it with a voltimeter and it is stuck open or closed dont remember it right now.

I now need to order one but I am not sure what it is called. I think is the coolant temperature sensor but my friend is not that sure. Which one is this?

thanks

toyotaspeed90,

This one runs for about $43 but I dont know if it uses the same one from a4a-fe, I guess it does.

I could probably find an used one here in honduras at a junker for around $30. (There are not many new parts for the 98-02 U.S. corollas over here)

So if you sold me yours it would be the same as If i were to buy it here.
Coolant sensor $10
Shipping to Miami $ 10?
Shipping from Miami to Honduras $5 (per Lb)
Bidpay fee $3 (aprox)

Let me see how much they go for in here. I will get back with you

PuNiSh3R,
I might try that. But if I am taking the alternator and belt out to clean this, it better work.

BTW, Since i need to remove the alternator to replace the sensor, I was thinking of replacing the thermostat, flush the radiator and pour fresh clean coolant in it while at it.. My corolla, with almost 97k miles on it, still has the original toyota coolant. Should i replace it with the green stuff (pennzoil or havoline) or should i just keep the old coolant and dont bother? (coolant look clean)

thanks for all your responses
