my car won't start!!!

i own a '95 corolla. i tried turning it and it won't work. the engine won't even turn over. i hear a click so i'm hoping the starter is still working, but that's it!! just a click!! i had a tech examine my car cuz i also have a CEL and the ecu threw a "71" code, and according to the tech, he said the possible problems are the "egrt sensor" and the "egr solenoid." i don't exactly know what these mean. please someone help me!!!! thank you.

your starter is probably on its way out

try hitting the starter motor (not the selenoid) with a hammer handle, should start then...

My '93 did the same thing at about 125,000 miles... it would occasionally not crank on the first try, then it got worse. That was a week I was really busy, so I just made sure I parked where I could roll-start the car (I have a 5-speed). Anyway, I removed the starter, had it tested, and it tested fine. I removed, cleaned and tightened all connections, then put everything back together. The car isn't far from 138,000 miles, and the problem has yet to return.
