My uncle knows a guy who will fix my frame under the table. The guy fixes truck frames so it should be all good. It will only cost a couple hundred too.
I'm so happy. This dropped off my estimated repair cost by allot. So with any hope it should be back on the road by the end of April.
I will take it to a body shop after I get it back to get the rest of the external work done. Then all I have to fix after that is the fule gadge, e-breake and replace the heater dial part of my dash.
I just hope those guys get off strike by the time I have the car all fixed up so I can get some plates.
um....I know a place that does racing uni-body, but really expensive tho, but if you can get a good deal with equal quality, I'll say "go for it"
haha, if your connection doesn't mind, can he do mine too with the same deal you're getting, haha
oh yeah, while you're at it, maybe you should punch a hole or something through the firewall just so it is 20v ready, in case you want to put a 20v in.

I'll see if he is willing to do another car but I don't know if he will do it. After all what I'm having done is not leagle. So it might look a bit odd when cars start to line up at his shop but I will ask.
But as for the 20V, I think I'd rather save my money for a hieght adjustable suspension kit that I wanted. Besides my 16V works fine. It has 150,000km on it and I think that it still has allot of life left in it.
Around the front drivers side wheel I got some film today so I should be able to post some pics on friday or saturday. I have to wait for pay day cuz I spent my budgeted spening money for this week on computer parts. I just hope I have enough money for the film to get developed after I buy Dungeon Siege.
I just have to get home from work before the sun goes down. Too bad it is a 45 min walk home from work. By the time I get home I don't feel like doing anything.

not to sound like a dumbass but if you are on a real shoe string budget like you described, the ae86 is NOT for you.......
too $$$ to maintain
I have $10.5k in the bank.
Bang! Bang! You go down in flames.
Andrew you have to get out of the habbit of quickly judging people with out gathering all the facts frist. Kinda like when you said my broke friend was rich and spoiled.
I try to controll my spending habbits so that 10k does not become $0. I usually put half my paycheck into savings and spend the other half. I don't like to spend any more than that. I ake $10/h @ 40hrs a week so I should have enough unless I get urges to buy more computer equipment like that palet I want that is $100+. The 10k is for car and college.
The rent i pay to my parents i get back when i go back to school so that will be about another $3,500+. My car gets to eat half of this. (half the 10.5k not the additional 3.5k)
Yum! Yum!

i don't think its a matter of how much you have, rather than how much you are willing to spend.
like andrew said, the ae86 is not a very wallet forgiving project. Be very aware that things will come at a price. That piece of advice should stick with you when considering everything. Because, once you start budgeting like you own a civic, the project becomes increasingly harder.
But, don't let those be words of discouragement, just be concious of overall cost to mantain and build a hachiroku.
Damn I haven't got any word back on the welder. I'm just going to buy another AE86 and keep this one for parts. I decided this after a full out rust inspection on my car today. I diccovered a hole the size of my head in the fire wall (how the **** did I miss this before?) so I can see the back of my front drivers sidr tire. After seeing that I no longer doubt that my frame is fried.
