Question Engine and Transmision..plz help

hey guys. i'v been thinking and i know that you get a better performance with a stick shift....well my car is an auto. so i was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap place or just a estimate price for getting (changing basiclly) a new transmision. Is it ok to go with a used one? also i am starting to reach the 250,000 mark on my engine and was wondering if anyone knew a place that i could get a new or cheap engine and also how much it would cost. some of my other ideas for my car would be to lower it. should i...what do you think...? anyway those are my main two questions....oh and one more thing where do i go to find out where there are some get togethers...like for 1989 or what ever corollas( i live in anaheim, Ca)? any info would be greatly appreciated. thank you
-Bryan

I would suggest swapping in a 4age with a 5-speed tranny from a 90-92 Corolla GT-S. That should cost around $500-700(just a guess) to pick up the engine and tranny not including installation.

Yea.. I suppose you have a 4AF engine? You didn't say.. but anyway .. if it isn't a fuel injected engine.. it's goin to cost a lot to get all the new wiring installed.. or install it yourself it'll take a while.. I know the hells
