Question 4age turbo/supercharged

ive heard people say that the stock 4age engine can handle 4psi of boost wheather it be super or turbo charged but are they talking about the whole block itself or what if you just put low compression pistons and all the internal goodies in the 4ag can it run more boost

PLease & Thanks
Dan

reason for asking is im just wondering if its worth that hastle swapping a 4agze in when i can just rebuild up the one i have now

No they're talking out of their ass. Although the high compression pistons wont be that great when you boost it. Swap in some GZE pistons and boost away. (sidenote: the 7rib block is stronger, but I've seen 4A-FE's running 20+psi)

what about the wiring and ecu can this remain the same or would this need changing with the turbo or supercharge upgrade

Toyotaspeed, oh I didnt say he DIDNT have one, I just said the 7rib is a good one for boosting.
what about the wiring and ecu can this remain the same <- no you'd have to change that, the stock ecu wont support fuelmaps which go to positive intake pressures.

i know.... it's just a moot point to mention the 7 rib when he already has it

ok since we all have our opinions let me here sum for my next question this will help me out on my original question.

4age redtop(7rib) How would YOU go about turbocharging this engine the RIGHT and affective way... meaning nothing to crazzy but not doing it just to say your car is turbocharged ????

explain what parts you would need custom, from other cars,or from the 4ag family

or if you dissagree with my thoughts about turbocharging the 4age explain what you would do if you had sum cash not alot but enough to get what you need and put it into the engine or another engine alltogether

Thanks ahead for all replies
Dan

lol dude it isn't that hard.. Get a turbo.. get a BOV (unless you want to run a draw-through turbo setup) get an intercooler.. and the exhaust manifold needed, and then whatever neccessary electronics for your turbo.. May want to get an S-AFC II so you can tweak with fuel settings by piggy backing the ECU.. What is so hard about that? A red top is already high comp, no? If it is you won't be able to run very much pressure I'd say 6psi max..? But I ain't positive about that shit.
