if it happens while taking turns, say bye bye rear end... the gears are out of spec and basically have just worn down. Shit happens.

^like the guy said, if its during turns, then the diff. pinion gears are probably out of spec or simply worn. Or even damaged....

if this is happening even going straight ahead, my guess is incorrect drive pinion and ring gear meshing, did you or a shop do any rear end related work to the car?

Of course check if there is enough diff oil first, and hope its the right kind

yeah, I already changed the diff oil, it was low, which is probably why I'm having this problem. The car has been making this noise since I got it but now its worse. It does it always. even on straight aways. I found a piece of metal sitting on top of the drain bolt (along with sludge) kinda a looks like a small, hollow, hershey kiss. could it be a bearing? or should I just get LSD.

this sounds fun, feels like transmissions class LOL..
well if its happening while going straight as well it could be pinion bearings or the side bearings in the diff that hold the drive shafts...

thats my two cents
