Help a brotha out

the arms on my whipers are all rusted and shit. I was gonna take em off and run them under the whire wheel to clean em up. So my first question is how do i disconnect the completewhiper arm? My other question is what should I do cleam them up to shiny metal or paint it black w/a clear coat over it.?? Also where could I find a roll of soft red auto vinyl? Know of any commercial stores like frank's crafts or something?

You lift the cover where they attach to the car, theres a nut... unbolt that and they come off.. mark the position tho. Then paint them flat black... why you ask? because of glare... clear metal ones will glare like a motherfcuker.

I'd remove the spring on the arm and then sand blast arms.. then repaint with whatever you want.. and then get a nice new shiny spring! Make sure you get a spring that is like galvanized or something so it doesn't rust lol. You can adjust how far your wipers come up to by when u put them back on.. Like flash said to mark their position.. well I left mine sit slightly higher so they wiper slightly more across the windshield.

I'd be more worried about the glare in the rest position than when they're flapping.
