good deal or what?

i found an 88' gts corolla at a local wrecking yard for 1800 usd
runs and drives good and the motor sounds like its in good condition......would it be worth the 1800?

Depends on how rusted out it is.

You need to do a very good job checking for rust on an 88 Corolla in Washington.

Hi-
Also need to know what mileage this thing has on it. I had an '88, which was in real rough shape body wise but still ran pretty good. Gave it to my brother with 178K and he's going to hit the 200K mark pretty soon.
Think I would check Kelly Blue or one of the others and see what suggested book value is with the mileage and condition. If it shows less than $1800 then you're in a great position to negotiate down. Typically in your location would you expect a car 16 years old to be in reasonably good condition? I'm on the east coast and find that if it was garaged it could be in great shape. If its been outside for sixteen winters then you might expect some body problems. But- still you're only talking $1800 to begin with. Its hard to lose buying any Corolla that cheap.
Good luck if you get or got it!
Ted

i say thats pricey for an 88 rolla gts

even in canadian bucks thats up there but in american $$$'s i wouldnt even consider it unless it was really really mint and if its goin to a wreckin yard i highly doubt it's mint

just my 0.02cents

oh shit... you ARE in WA.... what junkyard are you looking at?

$1800 would only be good if there's minimal rust and the mileage is low... otherwise you can find decent ones with good titles (i'm assuming since it's a junkyard it has a salvaged title) for around $2,000-2500

you should check out the big toyota meet we're gonna be having in the summer in the seattle/lynnwood area.... last one was a test "all toyota" meet and produced around 50-75 cars on a rainy day

You can't just walk around the car to check for rust. You need to peel up the edge of the carpet, look under the hatch/trunk, look under the hood, and look underneath the car, etc.
