Injector question

Ok, my friend wanted to know the answer to this..

Can he use 4 AE92 RedTop injectors on an AE86 BlueTop harness? The plugs are different, so he wants to know if he could just cut the plugs off of the AE92 RedTop harness, put them onto the AE86 BlueTop harness.. would the injectors work properly?

hi
if i remember correctly the ae92 redtop injectors are high impedence, and the ae86 injectors are low impedence. so no you cannot swap them.
If you get injectors from a 7mge mkiii NA supra, they are 295cc, injectors that are low imp. the plugs are different though so hell have to splice the clips in. But then he'll need an Safc or something to controll the injectors because the car will run pig rich. Unless he's going turbo it's best just to stick to the stock injectors.

Yea, like what Gim said...

The '86-87 injectors are rated for a 182cc at 1 OHM, while the '88 to '89 are also rated at 182cc but at 2 OHMS.The '90 to 91 are 235cc's at 2 OHMS. The 5 V/pc versions are bigger yet at a rate of 295cc also at 2 OHMS.

Unless you have, or plan on bigger mods and have a way to alter the computer, I'd stick with the stock injectors.

If you're thinking of getting an adjustible fuel pressure regulator to play around with the pressure, I don't know as of yet how Toyota's computer will react to it. When I had my Fords & my GM's, the computer (If it's not programmed for the added pressure) would compensate by telling the injector to flow less fuel, thus defeating the purpose. It only remained at the altered pressure at WOT, in wich the engine already runs rich, so there's no point. Basically, you'll get more of an affect by just unplugging & plugging the vacuum hose for FPR.
