Cool AE92 trunk light mod

This is a pretty easy one but very effective. heres what i started out with two of the light inserts for the ae92 sedan.

one is my old one because my brother backed into the side of my car messing up the tail light and a little of the side panel
heres what i did. i cut off one of the lights from the bottom because they will produce the most light and used the handy holes already in there to feed the wires.

on the reverse side i used this little wire clamp thing to wire the green and green/white coming from the end to the bundle of green wires.
and screwed the ground down also.

drilled hole for screw in backside

and here is it mounted and back in my car.

before:

after:

my camera is a pos that is why the light looks brighter. im thinking about doing it to the other side also and a glove box light but will probably put it on a switch.

design flaws:
-have to have the lights on the outside for it to work
-light is kind of in the way(can be solved with better placement)
-light blinds you if you look at it :P

Being able to see inside your trunk at night! Minesh, GTS's come with Trunk lights, but most sedans and SR5's don't come with any lighting in the trunk!

I do suggest you put a seperate switch for that light because it will drain your battery if you keep your parking lights on long enough.

i not to worryed about it draining my battery because i almost always have my car on when the lights are on. and my battery is from a chevy suburban so it is like twice the size it needs to be.

I don't think people are encouraging enough here... I think you did a great job on this mod. I appreciate the time you invested into the project as well as the write up on the forum... I just might do the same thing. Thanks alot... now if you can give me some tips on the crappy dome light, I am all ears!

Who needs trunk lights anyways? Its not like you're reading a book in there. Don't mean to sound rude but I'm sleepy from dirt jumping all day woohoo.

Well, let me pose this most possible scenario to you Mr. Wise and Benevelant Timberland.. Say you pull over the side of the road.. and it's late out, no light... You need to check the trunk to see if your yappin wouldn't shut her mouth girlfriend so you had to put her in the trunk, is doing ok.. Now if you don't got trunk lights, and you don't got a flash light on ya.. how are you supposed to see if she's still breathing? HUH? HUH!?!?!

That is totally funny.... but on the flipside as people are driving by as you check on her.... ah, you really don't want this huge glowing halo of light surrounding her and displaying to all the people passing by that you have put her in the trunk.... so I have to say that the trunk light mod would not be best suited for those that stuff their girlfriends in the trunk. I would rather strike a match and hold it close to her mouth and see if it blows out to check her breathing.
