Dash Noise

I have a 2004 Corolla with 200 miles on it. Whenever I'm idleing in park or drive, I get a rattle in the dash on the driver's side. Can anyone tell me if they have had the same problem and what it is. I don't want the dealer to tear apart the entire dash. Thanks

dash noise

Can anyone tell me how to take out the instrument cluster on a 2004 LE so I can see behind there and find out what is rattling around. I removed the center screw and separated the dash from the top of the instrument cluster so far. I don't want the dealer going in there and screwing anything else up. thanks

Why not? take it back and tell them what your problem is... your car is brand new.... and at that point it is still their job to SATISFY the customer. If I had a car with 200 miles on it and it was fresh out of the dealer's lot..... and if I didn't like the way my farts sounded on the damn seat I would take it back and have them fix it to my satisfaction. Screw them... they are jerks that want to make a sale.... don't suffer by not being satisified with your new car... tell them: It makes a loud noise in the dash, please fix it for me, or I will drive this car right thru your lobby window, and shove the car keys up your a$$!

Just my 4:00 a.m. Can't sleep and grumpy opinion! LOL!!!

FYI tofastgt I merged your two threads.
I agree that with 200 miles on the car, take it to the dealer, don't risk making your problems worse by taking the car apart yourself when it is under warranty.

I get the same thing

I have an '04 Corolla S with about 3k miles on it. Mine isn't quite a rattle, but more a buzz. If I smack the dash, it goes away. Its pretty annoying.....

I work for an interior plastics company that supplies Toyota (NUMMI and TMMC) (and NOT the instrument panel mind you), but i must say that that is quite a let down to hear. I mean, problems with engines, brakes, or functional stuff could be worse, but the small stuff like rattles and squeaks are just as annoying. Especially cuz i'm related to that part of the industry.

just want to say "i'm sorry" for whoever's responsible, i know it may not mean much.

I would recommend taking it to a dealer as well, because it may be an on-going or common problem which they have fixed many times already on other customers just like you.

Yup just take it to the dealer and have them install some felt padding at the contact point. That'll take care of everything.
