It's been done on AE92 Corollas before.. chances are AE101 and AE110 will accept the motor.
You'll have to fabricate engine mounts and use the 3SGE manual transmission from a Camry like you were told. A more popular (but still rare) swap would be a silvertop or blacktop 20V 4AGE or a 4AGZE. these have also been done before.

Do-able.. but very time-consuming and lots of skills involved.. Not for the novice. I wouldn't tackle it if you don't have a welding unit.

Not that hard to do.. heres the text:

This was our first attempt at a 3SGTE conversion into a Corolla and the results were superb. What was once pushing out 118bhp is now pushing 327bhp. The engine uses water cooling from a Celica to maximise cooling efficiency, Blitz Induction as well as a MoTeC engine management system to get the most from the 3SGTE.

The car was also fitted out with GAB struts and Fensport Springs, and Celica ST205, 4 pot brake conversion.

This vehicle has since been sold to TTEC Ireland, where it has had the ST205 type 3sgte fitted and is now running 327bhp with equal torque.

1/4 mile time is 13.02 @ 118mph

that's awesome man...
actually i am from malaysia. thinking for fixing a 3s to my corolla too.
but what i get most advice is,... just fix a 20v instead of a 3s. the reason i choose 3s is due that i think it is more powerful. hehe...
my corolla is ae110 japanese model. one with crystal light, air bag and abs system. hehe...
so my question and the help i need is,... can i fix a 3s into my ae110. my current engine is 5a, and is auto...
help help...

Since my 4AGZE is toast, I am looking to put 3SGTE into my Corolla now. If anyone has any more info about that one mount that does not line up, please let us know.
