Question Hesitation when accelerating?

Car: 1988 4dr (AE92) with 3spd auto tranny

Sometimes when accelerating from a dead stop I notice that the rpm would climb but stop at 2.5K rpm and stay there for a few seconds and then continue to climb. During that time the car has no pull at all. I have to keep the gas pedal almost floored to keep up or stay ahead of traffic. Other times when accelerating the rpm would climb and pass 2.5K rpm than the car would accelerate just fine without any hesitation.

Is it normal for a 3spd auto to do this?

I was thinking more of a tranny shifting problem.

I have the same dam thing. I don’t have it fixed yet but it is like there is a power hole in the rpm band at 2500- 3500 rpm and it is bother some because it just started after I put 2” straight pipe no catalytic converter, no resonator exhaust system on tell me if you get it worked out.

did you guys checked:

- the fuel lines from tank to the front

- the fuel pump and fuel filter

- the gas tank, if it's dirty it might clog-up the lines

if it's not hesitating ALL the time then it can't be your tranny, but i could be wrong. the last time this happened to me, my fuel line go pinched so check those first.
