you can do it... pull the valve cover off, clean it, sand it, paint it, reinstall

This is for a 2004 Corolla S and I think that the cover is plastic...

yeah...that's what Vamp did to his old one before he sold it. it's easy to remove, and it's not like you NEED it in the car, so you can let it sit to dry if you need to drive somewhere.

it's easy as anything to take off and put back on, too. for a good paint...get Dupli-color paint for the motor, as it dries quickly.

here's a DIY for it - excuse Derrick's bad spelling...

TRD makes a carbon fiber engine cover for the 1ZZFE motor which looks pretty sweet.

The C/F cover is expensive though

I say just throw the damm thing away

But um yeah, just take it off and paint it however you want.
You'll probably want to use hi-temp paint. Put it back on when it's dry

I wouldn't consider $93 bucks that expensive. Though to each his own.

OK Mr. Money bags. please send $50.00 to Chris in San Francisco, it's half as much as not that much

I think it's expensive based on what it does for you, which is NOTHING. Considering a TRD Quickshifter costs $130 and a can of paint and a can of clearcoat cost like $25, I think a thin little piece of Carbon for $100 is expensive.
You can get a whole freekin' Carbon hood for $350.00

Yeah, I am also thinking about doing it. But that would be one of my last things on the list.
