I've been hearing this knocking noise in my car everytime I start from stop or I take a sharp turn.. Now that I'm trying to enjoy my suspension I get something to go wrong with my engine..

Fortunetly I just found out that there's a 90% chance it's my engine mounts, my mechanic told me that he's pretty sure that the bushings are worn out and I need to change the mounts, although they shouldn't be a big deal, but he has to tie the engine to the crane and life it up in order to change the mounts..

Taking the car in on Monday, I hope that's what it is.. I don't think it could be anything else either, it only happens when I take sharp turns or hit a nasty bump or pothole, and since it sounds like something is loose and playing around under the hood, I guess it makes sense to doubt the engine mounts!!

What do you think guys?

wouldn't the rubber on the engine mounts have to be virtually non-existant for it to make a clanking sound? I mean, i've seen really worn and weathered engine monts (rubbers cracking, and its dry as anything) but never deteriorated to the point where there's actual material lost.

I guess the rubber is dry or something! I still have to find out, I couldn't tell by just looking at it, and it's impossible to move your engine and find out if it's actually the mounts that need changing, so I have to take it in tomorrow and find out if it's actually the mounts or not.. I have a good feeling it is..

I just got my Hachi Roku, and I think it may be that your front tires are scraping on the mud flaps. Considering that it happens when you take sharp turns. Check that out before you even go to the shop. It might save you some dough.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't have mu flaps and I know it's not that, because even when I take slight turns it happens sometimes..

I just asked one of my friends and he told me that if I go on the highway and while I'm on 5th gear to release the gas and hold the gear. If it shifts that means you're engine isn't as stable as it should be. And that happened! So I guess it is my mounts..

Ok, I stand corrected.. It turned out to be my lower ball joints, my driver side was really bad, you didn't have to put any effor to move around! So I replaced them both and "Problem eliminated" so happy it turned out to be just that... Thanks for the help though guys

won't be HG...thats a simple check...just do a comp check.

I figured it would be your ball joints or cv joints....i knew it wasn't the motor.

you can check the motor moutns by reving the engine via TB. that way you can visually check it.
