Well my sr5 runs fine but when i went to start it the starter wouldn't turn over. I was thinking battery, but my lights and cd player come on. I'm now thinking that the starter may be bad...My dad said check the ignition fuse(haven't had a chance yet)....I was wondering if anyone had a pics of an ae92 interior i'm tryin to get some ideas..Could you please post some if you have any? Thanks -Josh

The battery can have enough power to run the lights and not turn over the alternator. It's easy enough to check, just hook it up to a running car with some jumper cables and see if it starts then...

Tried that and nothing.The starter won't even click....I know where a starter is at the junkyard.
Maybe ill check mine before I do that..What are some things I should look at for a bad starter? Thanks all

most likely your starter. you can try tapping it with a stick

the contact might be loose

My car does the same.. I think its heat soak from the manifold.. at least on the 4AGE anyways, I'm not sure about the 4AF and 4AFE's.. but the manifold gets so hot on the 4AGE that the starter won't turn after I've been on the highway for an hour. I have to let it sit there and cool down for a bit and then it will work again. Bad engineering design.

on the 4a-fe starter is on intake side.... any 4a-ge can mount a 4a-fe start on it and use it on intake side but you need the plate between motor & tranny from a 4a-fe

try tapping the back of the starter with a hammer.... that sometimes can get it to start..... but it sounds like the starter might be dead if it's not even turning

take the starter out & take it to a local parts shop... most should be able to test it for you

I went and tapped the starter with a hammer a few times....Then I held the gas down while i turned the key. The car started right up. Now the car turns over fine...Maybe signs of a failing starter...Either way thanks for the help all....-Josh

I would recommend you get a starter and keep it handy. But that happened to me a couple of years ago and I tapped it with a hammer and it's been working fine ever since. Sometimes weather change or certain things cause the starter to jam, but nonetheless I recommend you get a backup starter..

Is your car manual or Auto?

Same here! Were you able to fix it?
