2004 Corolla Stereo Question

I just bought a 2004 Toyota Corolla LE and am wondering if anybody out there knows whether or not I can remove the stock stereo deck and replace it with an aftermarket stereo? If so, can I do it myself (I have done car stereos before and can figure things out pretty well) or should I have it professionally done? Thanks.

Sure you can replace it.
Yes you can do it yourself.
It's not going to be much different than any other stereo you have changed out...

Has anyone seen pics of aftermarket decks installed on an 03/04/05 Corolla?

The few pictures I've seen didn't look so great because the face of the stock Corolla radio is angled. Since the bracket inside the dash is horizontal, this means that aftermarket decks looked like they were sticking out of the dash rather than flush.

Are there aftermarket decks where the front face plate can be pivoted?

In a way it's hard to find a good deck to match for that car. I found a nice kenwood (pretty cheap also) the one with an angled control deck. I like the deck, because the letters on the screen match the color of the gages and the buttons match the the other controllers. I didn't do the installation myself, cause I got with a free install package. But I like the way it looks, very happy with it, except it can't play mp3's but I don't really care about it.

I have a 2004 Corolla and I purchased a Sony MP3 player. It was free installation and the deck that they used to fill it in fits great.

Do you have any pics you can post? Always interested in the types of face plates that are used with these decks.

the radio that will fit the space in the 2004 corolla is a double din

but the front of the stock radio is actually wider than a standard after market radio

either you have to make up a trim plate or buy one from metra or other brands that make this type of trim plate.
