04 Corolla Fog Lamps

Has any one installed fog lamps on a 03-04 corolla. I bought an 04 CE and it has no lamps. I'm willing to buy and install myself. Does anyone know where I could get these at a good price. Plus, does any one have instructions on how to install them?

Thank you,
SCE22

They are pretty expensive from toyota. You could try a wreckers or websites like procarparts.com...
A Haynes or Chilton manual will cover the intallation process.

You could aslo try ebay, they have them there sometimes. I am actually looking for them as well, just haven't found them yet withing my price range.
To install them I think is easy. When I was clearing out my headlights on my '04 le, my friend and I took of the front bumper and on each side under the bumber (connected to the body) were the connectors for the fogs. I don't even think you need to do any kind of special install, just plug them in and they should work with your headlights, when you turn them on. I think, however, you can add a separate switch for them inside the cabbin. Atleast that's what I am going to do.

Update

I've already installed the fog lamps to the stock wiring. The only thing I need is to figure which are the wires that go to the aftermarket fog lamp switch.

The switch I bought has a ground, to source (max 10A) or to relay's trigger, and to power (12V) posts.

Does anyone have the wiring specs and which wires go to which posts to activate the fog lamps?

Is there a way to keep control of the fogs? That is, can I wire to turn them on at will regardless of the high beam. Does the DRL relay or the fog lamp relay cut the power to the fogs when the high beam goes on and is there a way around it?

Thanks

If you want to run them independantly then you've got to buy a seperate switch or buy the OEM light stock for the S those allow you to run the fog lights independantly

BTW where did you buy your fog lights? i've been trying to get a set myself.

I would just keep it simple and use a relay and a Cole Hersee switch, they make the large rocker switches for Toyota, at Toyota they are $45, buy the Cole Hersee one for $14 and they pop right into the stock square hole, pop out the change holder hook looking thing and toss it and add this

Switch - SPST, w/Lenskit & Pilot, On/Off, 3Blade 147939 58328-100BP Only $10.99 USD

Lens kit has green, red, clear and yellow lenses for the on conformation light so color of conformation light is your choice,

see
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...productId=8147

58328-101-BP Weather-Resistant Rocker Switch, 1 Independent (large) pilot light, with 1 lens of each color unassembed, bubble pack SPST 25A at 12V DC Silver Off or Coles site...

speaking of cool things for the stock rectangle hole (no comments) see here...

garage door opener that snaps into the stock hole...very cool...

I have a S so they came wired, and has the stock turn signal collum switch, I went with 85 watt Narva Weathers, the stock is 55 watt, and Danel Stern (the website I posted above) says i85 watt is not too much of a boost as so to fry the wires etc,

the bulbs I use are 85 watt Narva "weather" ones, they have a slightly tinted coating which makes the light slightly amber...

In my truck (91 Toyota Excab 4x4) I had to add on aftermarket so the switch I used was the one mentioned abave and I used a yellow insert on the window for the "light on" conformation.

even in the 91 models the Toyota cut out for accessories was the same...since Cole makes the switches for Toyota, it looks stock, I have reverse lights on the same type of switch as well and used the clear insert for the switch and a rear for light that is red and of cource used the red insert for the switch, the 4x4 is a fdifferent beast and has all the weather and off road lights and switches but they all look stock...

I got my set from Ebay they are used OEM. they came in perfect condition.

On my 03 I did not have the wire harness.

I finally got them in, here is the clencher. My 03 should on all accounts have the wiring harness there ready to hook up. With only a fog light swith/headlight switch that is swapped out for the headlight swith ony stalk. ($165) for the switch. But no that would make it much too easy LOL...I had a Toyota machanic look for the harness also.. I am thinking maybe I have part of an '02 harness.....all I know is that this car does not have the harness.

The fogs fit perfect in the opening....

Here is what I had to do....I bought two fog light connectors from Toyota hoping that I would get some wired pigtails coming out of the connectors....No such luck....if the wiring harness is damaged they will not repair it...only replace it.....now what do I do. I talked to the Toyota parts, and a mechanic to see if they had the metal ends that clamp on to the wires and fit in the connector.......parts did not offer anything...however toyota has a kit that dealers purchase for those ends.......They did not have the correct ends......Now what do I do.....Parts stores do not offer any...thought maybe Chevy dealer would have a wire terminal kit..because of the toyota affiliation they did but none of the right sizes.

I went to a salvage yard found a 2002 toyta corolla with not much left of it, The back end of it was cut off.......I know someone is driving around in a '02 with a weld bead around the circumferance of the car just behind the drivers seat.

Found some wired ends, and a fuse box with relays that were perfect for the fogs according to the parts list on the 03. I wired the fogs using the heaviest wires I obtained from the junked 02.

Brought the wires into the fuse block and wired them to the correct poles of the relays. I wired it according to the wiring diagram for the 03-04. Then I found a small lighted button toggle that fit on the accesory panal near the alarm mic (or change holder) just left of the steering wheel. I then had to tap into the Green-orange wire coming from the daytime running light relay, and run that to the toggle switch.

With all that, done...the fogs work great....turn off when your highbeams are on. Turn off with the lowbeams when the car is turned off. I opted with the toggle switch knowing that if I wanted to drop $165 later I could.

All the wiring was soldered and schrink tubed and wire loomed, the foglight conector wires were sealed with clear silicone sealant.

Not the easiest task I have done but a good afternoon project.

I've got my fogs of ebay as well with a complete wiring harness and everything. The only thing is they are a bit bigger then the stock corolla s fogs, so I took it to the shop, and he made cuts inside the bumper to fit them. Took about hour and a half to do, becuase he was cutting the bumper to make them fit. My fogs have yellow bulbs in them, but I am giong to be changing them within a year. Putting an HID kit (6000k bulbs to match my headlights)
