Boot torn in half...

When I got an oil change I got the usual oil leak comment plust something new.

tie rod end boot torn in half.

Is this a big deal or can I put it off? What will happen if I don't fix it?

the boot is a dust boot to keep dirt out of the rack, if you leave it exposed dirt and grit will enter, ruin your rack seals and then you'll have another leaking problem. Plus you gotta pull the whole rack out to get it replaced or rebuilt, so change the boot now

from what i've seen the driver's boot always goes first

SWEET! Join the club!! I found out about my ripped boot just 2 weeks ago. Haha, I've tried some boro method like duct taping... even thought of silicone, but I'm going to get that changed sometime this week.

IF i can't change it, which i probably wont be able to since that sucker is probably seized in there, i'm sending it out to a shop.

voodo, have you checked the prices yet? I'm asking a friend to check at Toyota and also want to check with NAPA too

Btw, the boot for zenki/kouki/power steering model/non power steering model is apparently different. better change it before you're sorry
