I needed to change my spark plugs so i bought a set of NGK-R BCPR7E-11 plugs, at the time i didn't know what kind of plugs i had in the car because my mechanic put them in when doing my swap. when I took them out I saw they were DENSO IRIDIUM 1k16 plugs. now what i would like to know is which are better plugs. Personally i feel that the car feels a bit sluggish with the NGK but that could be my imagination, and I went to a store and he was trying to sell me the 1k20 denso and i told him i bought the NGK earlier in the day and before i had the 1k16 Denso, and the guy said the Denso's are better than the NGK-R's I would like to know peoples opinion

densos in my opinion are better. Besides, Denso makes all the Toyota OEM plugs, so theres a level of consistancy across the board.

Better make sure that you'r putting in the proper plugs and make sure they're the proper heat rating.

Hi

the denso is better than ngk in my opinion.

they are original parts from toyota.

what makes a toyota, a toyota?

oem parts are for the most part better than other brand, so stick with the original brand.

in that case denso.

Guys, guys, guys....

I am not one to believe that your plugs are the reason for this and the reason for that. Plugs don't make hp, plugs don't make torque, plugs are plugs. Unless your plugs have no more tips, are carbonized to death or whatever, they will work, no matter what brand.

If your car has problems and feels sluggish or something else, it's not your plugs unless they are in any state I have mentioned above. Check your engine. It's like this guy who buys a cat, buys some food for it and a day later, it dies. Goes out and buys another cat, gives it the same food and a day later it dies. Gets another one, same food, it dies too. Vet tells him, i'm sorry Mr. Johnson, you've just been buying defective cats.

Going around the problem doesn't solve the problem. Had another guy ask me if he could install an oil cathcan on his 4ag cause the car had some broken rings and was pumping oil back in the intake! I bang my head on the wall when I hear stories like that!

Iridiums are overpriced and overrated and out there to rob you of your good earned money. The same goes with Denso, plugs are worth about 3$ each but since it's a dealer, they sell it to you for 17.99 a pair. Get a good set of platinum plugs like Bosch (6.99 for a pair), that's what I run and you'll be very satisfied.

Didn't you know...
NGK = No Good Kind

yeah, but i've actually noticed different fuel consumption under different heat rated plugs. I find under hotter plugs, i get sh!t fuel economy.....maybe the plug thing is just a placebo..

I went to Crappy tire to buy some new platinum plugs but when I looked in the spark plug book there were none listed for 1988 Corolla GTS.. 1989 up were listed but it said 1988 N/A.. Why is this?? HELP ME I WANT NEW PLUGS  the dealer wants $11.00 a piece. When he told me that I felt raped.

Hello Everyone

I use BCP6ES's the are cooper NGK and go for $1.35 each.

The only reason to use other than cooper plugs is if you are running a bottle or extreme boost.

Other than that you're just being lazy!!
I know quite a few 4ag racers around the world and almost all of them use this or BCP5ES's in there race cars.

The BCP is length of plug and what size socket to fit the plug.
7 is the stock heat range
6 is one stage colder and 5 is?
2 stages colder.
ES is for cooper
EY (which is stock for the AE-92's) platnium
then there's a EZ which is a V groove (can't remember what material though).
EY's last 30-60 thousand cost 11-12 bucks each.
ES's last about 6-10 thousand w/ that O so expensive 1.35
W/ stock plugs and modds they had yellow and white glazes on them.
Went to 6ES'a and everthings back to normal.
Just my two cents!!
C-YA!!
