for an ae86... this talks about a conversion from an sr5 to a gts:
http://club4ag.com/faq%20and%20tech_...ts_project.htm

and ae92.... seeing how i'm close to a full "conversion".... here goes..

sr5: 4afe (90-102hp depending on year) dohc slave-cam style motor.... weaker internals, economic head design...... no front sway bar, non-serviceable struts, no voltmeter or oil pressure gauge, interior is different (seats, gauges, sr5 has the 3rd brakelight on the rear dash), no sideskirts, no stock rear spoiler, 13" rims, rear brakes are drum brakes, (later model ae92 used larger brakes as well), c50 transmission for manual, auto's were available

gts: 4a-ge (115-135hp depending on year), DOHC twin cam motor.... more aggressive head design with much higher rev limits.... had front swaybar (23mm), rear disc brakes, voltmeter/oil pressure gauge, sideskirts, rear spoiler with 3rd brake light, 14" alloy wheels, optional serviceable struts.... c52 transmission, auto's were not available

dude.. i think you're talking about the older corollas like the TEXX. i think the guys are discussing about the AEs. btw, if i'm going for forced induction, i'll take those older TE or KE corollas with the T-type motors.... 3TGTE baby!

no..... 4af/4afe/7afe are all DOHC...... they have a slave cam design.... one cam runs off the timing belt, then under the valve cover there are 2 cams.... on each cam are gears which interconnect the 2 cams..... the exhaust (i believe) cam directly drives the intake cam

the strange thing about this setup.... is that on most Twin Cam setups.... the cams will rotate both in the same direction since both have a gear on the timing belt... but since the intake is driven BY the exhaust cam on the FE heads, they rotate in OPPOSITE directions to one another...
