Hey guys, I have a 1991 Geo Prizm, and I was wondering if there were any intake systems available for this engine? If not, how difficult would it be to make a custom intake? Thanks?

105 hp approximately? Not much you can do there. Why a custom intake? You can get some pacesetter headers, cone filter. Good option would be to turbo it. FE heads are excellent for turbo applications.

Hey Rolla Pat, why are 4af heads so good to put a turbo set up on. I would think the 4ag head would be better because it doesnt restrict air flow. I'm just curious because I myself have a 89 corolla sr5 with a 4af. If it's wise to put turbo, do u think I could get one off and rx7? haha let me know thanks

Speaking of the 4Af, how can I up my intake, just by putting a cone on it? Any exhaust ideas as well? I want to put better headers, and catback, but I want a good 2.5" muffler if I can. Again, ideas?

The 4A-FE was a 16v 1.6L engine that produced around 100HP. Is it a 4A-GE perhaps?

4a-fe's head design with 22.3 degree narrow valve angle is better for turbo applications than the 4ag's 50 degrees. On the breathing side, 4afe's ports are restrictive. Nothing a good machinist can't fix!

Thanks man. Yeah, it's in the Prism GSi model which is the 130 HP model. Is there an easy way to see the name of the engine? Sorry I'm such an idiot, but I'm learning!

4AGELC is the engine I have. That's what I found on the internet. Sources anyone? I think that's it.

Um, ok..... from what i've heard (and since i have the 4a-fe....and you prob shouldn't call it a 4a-f...cause that's a slightly different setup than the 4a-fe) the 4a-fe, yes, can produce some power, but overall the 4a-ge is a much better engine. The way the engine was designed was for economical purposes....the 4a-fe is based somewhere between 100-110HP....and running boost w/o changing internals (if you have anywhere near high mileage) you can only run about 5-7lbs with an intercooler safely.....running anything higher could ruin the engine.....doin that much boost will only bring the engine to about 150-160 HP.....

um if you want an intake and you have an F head engine (and make sure it's a 4a-fe, fuel injected rather than the carburated 4a-f) it doesn't matter what year corolla you have. I have a 1990, and my short-ram intake is for the 1.6L 93-97 (little do most import companies know that the corolla had more than one engine in the ae-92's.....3 in the states 4a-f 4a-fe 4a-ge, in fact, and 4 in japan 4a-f 4a-fe 4a-ge 4a-gze).....when you do so, you will also have to buy a breather filter for one of the hoses on the back that comes with the factory air box....

if you want to do serious power to your corolla do an engine swap......and i don't know where you get that the 4a-fe is better to turbo than the 4a-ge....maybe you're right and it has better air flow...but the 4a-ge has a stronger head.....that's why the japanese chose to supercharge the g head rather than the f head......(hence, 4a-gze)

btw, i forgot to post this....there is a site that has "parts" (all required parts) but not a kit....to build a turbo for your 4/7a-fe.....here's the link...but keep in mind you cant run high boosts (esp if you have higher mileage)....

http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/

also, if your car is NA, then you don't want the 4a-fe to have 2.5" exhaust pipe...it's too big and you'll lose backpressure (meaning you'll lose torque....and that helps get you off the line)...the best set up for the 4a-fe is 2.25"

well, if you have a 4a-f, and you get a 93-97 intake (made for the 4a-fe) it won't fit correctly... but they do make them....obviously.....lol
