Question best sparkplugs for 99 corolla

I recently replaced the soparkplugs on my car. I replaced them with the same original ones (denso).

What tyoe of sparkplugs would you recomend for a 99 corolla? And would ther be a significant difference compared to the oem plugs?

You will not get a bigger spark from different spark plugs and you wont get more power by getting better sparkplug wires, UNLESS you upgrade your engine seriously like a turbo that would require better ignition from the spark plugs.
So if your car is stock or only has an intake OEM is the way to go.

You're in luck, I've spent some time reading about this for my '99 Rolla.

Upgrade would be an NGK laser platinum # BKR5EKPB-11. Stock plug is supposed to be a NGK #4302. I saw at my local Toyota dealer they now have iridium which is supposed to have a better burn too.

Denso #IK16 is supposed to be an upgrade as well (according to their website).

I haven't tried any as I've had to put money into other parts lately, so I can't personally vouch for better performance.

No use getting platinum or iridium plugs. They dont give better burn, they only last longer than copper ones.

Hmm last time I checked the 1zz-fe had coil-over-plug ignition and came with irridium plugs stock.
No spark plug wires and platinum would be a downgrade.

I know that this is the case at least for the VVT-i 1ZZs, I suppose maybe the 98-99's(no VVT-i) have platinum plugs.

Well... I was just stating generally that upgrading to iridium/platinum from a engine that has copper ones stock is foolish. Sure if it comes stock then by all means use it. Tho, platinum would work just as well as iridium, you just gotta replace it sooner.

Well, I was not expecting V8 performance from switching sparkplugs but a little bit of power would have been welcomed

So if switching from the stock sparkplugs does not make any performance difference, why the do people replace their OEM sparkplugs and wires?

Now that I remember, when they replaced my sparkplugs they didn’t gap them. I will get them check just be sure I am within specs.

Sparkplugs dont add any horsepower.

Because they are ignorant? Or because the original parts wore out.
