random sprocket on spare...

why is this random sprocket on my spare?
ya i know it is rusted to crap so is my entire car.

also my spare weights like 10-15lbs more then just a reg tire... i changed out my spare for a rim and tire from the junk yard today, only cost $10 because i got the hookups.

the thing about junk yards is that they have to pay companies to come and get tires...so they sell good tires and rims for very cheap

that random sprocket looks like from a flywheel
(stick shift cars)
those disassemble from the main unit and those gears
are what the starter engages onto to turn the motor.

It's on the outside of the wheel too right?

I would guess someone put it on there to go for that "shred your street racing opponent's tires" look

this thread made me laugh. The things people do... and then the things people do when they find these things 15 years later...

lol

& a flywheel doesn't come apart unless you cut it... and that would take a lot of work

Maybe someone wanted to try to balance it w.r.t. the grown-up tire on the otherside of the car so that handling would be better.
Maybe?
Paul.
