Turbocharger or Supercharger

I think I asked this before but... in comparison to the TRD supercharger how much performance does a turbo put in... because I want to know what will give out the best performance in increase... I mean considering the TRD keeps everything warranteed but how much more or less would a turbo give out? Cuz I remember Chris Corolla S stating that the Stafford Fabrications makes one but where would I be able to look up pricing and everything is bolt on right? And... how is it that the European versions have more HP is it because of regulations of exhaust over in NY? Anyhow any help would be preciated... and I've been waiting over a month for my AEM Intake to come in from Vpower... how long does it usually take for you guys who ordered from there? Thanks for the responses...

it depends on how much you intend to do to the motor. the supercharger is your best bet for a totally stock motor. if you plan on beefing your internals, then turbo is the best bet.

next question is, just how much do you want to spend on this endeavour?

by the way...the SF kit is taking an ungodly time to ship to some customers...there are a few people on VVTi who've been waiting months upon months for theirs with little feedback from the company.

Theres lots of different options in both fields. There really isnt a correct answer, because both can be set to user specs. Both take their energy from the engine, one from the crank, one from the exhaust flow, both rob power to give more power, its just your pick which one you want.

Go supercharger, its pretty straight forward. Are you adding one on or swapping engines cause a 4A-GZE would be a real nice swap to aquire with a supercharger slapped on already..seeing as though most new set-ups are abit pricey anyway.

Turbo lag....
Can be eliminated by choosing the correct size turbo, or using twin turbos. Then again turbolag is what gives you the sensation of big power.

Its not exactly straight forward to put an aftermarket supercharger. Its atleast as much work as a turbocharger installation.

Personally, I say you shoot for a turbo but make sure you either.. A) run low boost or B) have a built engine. Forged pistons, etc, etc.. The turbo is also nice 'cuz of the blow-off sound.

Don't get me wrong, a turbo has lag and it's only more and more annoying if you start shooting for a higher boost turbo while the supercharger is instant boost. You get great torque and HP with no turbo lag. But, now.. you are using the engine(crankshaft pulley) to power the supercharger while the turbo runs off the exhaust.

It's really like FlashMN said.. They both take a little bit to give back.. so.. it's up to you. But, look at the pros and cons carefully.

On a final note, the supercharger gets a edge in the fact that the TRD charger will be a breeze to snap on compared to messing with a turbo. Turbos use wastegates, blowoffs, turbo manifold, etc... etc...

It's all about what's in the wallet and how much wrench time you want to put in.
