750rpm is about right. There should be a idle screw which you can adjust. Damn cant even remember where it's located now.

why do you always think that the idle speed mixture screw is used to correct your idle?
if your car suddnly starts to idle at 1700rpm
don't you think something may have gone wrong?

I adjusted the idle screw. The car runs like a dream now, 8-900 rpm, purrs like a kitten, doesn't scream like a school girl anymore

It's funny how I had the same problem with my SR%, and I adjusted the screw but it started changing every once in a while! Sometimes it's at 1100RPM and sometimes it's at 500RPM!!
Now it seems to be ok, I think the weather has something to do with it!!

that idles screw is set for ideal timing. most likely, ur idling problem is because of something else....so before adjusting that, check all other options...timing, o2 sensor, spark, etc. cuz once you've tampered with that screw, it'll be virutally impossible to find the ideal timing again.
