Ina answer to your question, No its not possible... the CV joints are in different spots on the 20v... To be more specific, the 20v's have a bracket to hold the CV in place while the 4A-FE's dont... I just recently went thru this myself.

if you use the 4A-F C52 gearbox it _Should_ work. And being a 4A block, it should bolt up. Then again the clutch would be smaller than the one on the C56.
i'm going through this exact same thing rite now. i'm taking the 4afe tranny and hooking it up to the silvertop using the silvertop clutch. i've been told the clutches are the same size, 212mm. hopefully it works....
Originally posted by sleepycelica let me know how that goes as i just got my 20v engine, tranny, ecu in the mail and the axles were not included in the deal
same here, my axles came cut theres going to be all kinds of little suprises that pop up during the install.
In answer to your question about the clutch sizes, during the swap i did we changed the clutch from my 4A-FE into the 20v because it had done less milage and had been looked after significantly better than the one in the 20v appeared to be.. everything was exactly the same sizr too... the Thrust Bearing, pressure plate and clutch plate were all an exact fit. Hope this helps a little.

is the stock -fe tranny capible to hold up with the 20v setup? i am thinking about using the stock tranny as well but im worried about the reliability of it......and you can use the clutch mounted to the 20v with the stock tranny???
ive also heard that the stock axles used in the 7a-fe powered 6 gen celicas work fine......

depends on what c52 you get..... any clutch will work, and it depends on what flywheel you get as well..... the early c52's came with the 200?mm flywheels and in 90-91 they came with the 212mm flywheels (and larger clutches as well)..... the ae86 used the same 200mm flywheel in the W50 tranny.....
anyways, you can use the 4a-fe axles if you use the 4a-fe tranny... the 4a-fe, however, only came with a c50 transmission

whats the diff between the c52 and c50? the drive ratios?
the 4a-ge's in the 84-86 mr2's and ae82's had a c50.... the c52 here came out in 87'ish..... all 4a-f and 4a-fe's had a c50 (from 88-97).... the 7a-fe came with a c52... but the final gear ratio is different on those from the ae92 GTS c52...
