Bought A Twin Cam From Brother Help!

Ok so I bought a twincam engine that needs a crank pulley and a rebuild for peace of mind! Hey I got it for 50 bucks what can I say! My problem is I saw this motor get taken out of a GTS and swapped. The cover on the engine I have said 4agze which is s/c am I right???? How can you tell what year it was produced and type as it has no attachments and I am new to Toyota engine codes and in general. PLEASE HELP ME!!

In answer to your to your question - the engine codes go something like this:

1. Engine Group: these are the letters before the hyphen (4A, 3S, 1JZ etc.) denoting the block group that is used.

2. Head Type: the head type is split into two groups 'F' denotes the economy head which has slightly narrower valve angles than the 'G' Head, which is the performance head.

3. EFI or Carb: this is the last letter in the engine code. 'E' is the letter used if it is injected 'C' is used if it has a carberettor.

4. Super and Turbo chargers: These are put in between the head and injection type and 'Z' is used for the Supercharger while 'T' is used for the Turbo (Note: Toyota only uses one T even for Twin-Turbo)

There are some exeptions as is the case with some carberatted corollas where the 'f' is dropped to become simply 4A-C

Examples:
Supercharged Performance head with 4A block: 4A-GZE
N/A Corollas (most of them) and some others: 4A-FE
Twin-Turbo Supra Engine in the 1JZ family: 1JZ-GTE
4A block with super and Turbo (unlikely, but possible) with performance head: 4A-GTZE

Carberretted 4A family with Economy Head: 4A-FC or 4A-C

Wouldn't a N/A (normally aspirated) corrola be a 4A-CE?

the engine i bought was a blue top motor but i am selling the head. Look in for sale forum as I dont want to get in trouble.

no... 4A-C is normally aspirated via a carburetor and the 4A-GE uses EFI... C=carbs and E=efi.
