Question Electronically Limited Speed on AE102

I've heard that the speed on Japanese and U.S. built AE102's with the 1.8L 7A-FE (and maybe also the 1.6L 4A-FE) is limited to about 115 mph. I have a 95 Corolla DX (U.S. built ), and I was wondering if there was a way to remove the limit on the speed, and whether this is a good idea. If anyone can tell me anything about this, please do.

I wouldn't worry about removing it. Keep in mind the stock tires are only rated for 112 mph, and risk tire failure above that speed.

The ECU controlls the governed top speed, so some type of management or piggy-back computer would probably be needed to remove the speed limiter.

for sure.. you'll never reach 112mph with S rated tires anyways.

My car is governed (not rev-limited) to ~113-115 mph and I topped it out without a problem with the stock tires...

The tires are rated at a certain speed.. ie. not garunteed after that speed.
