my car boggles when i keep my gas pedal steady?!?! why does it boggle like that? it accelerates normally but when i ease off to drive at a steady pace, it boggles but when i step on the gas, the boggling stops. does anybody have a clue of what might be wrong? afm? btw, i have an 86 corolla gts.
well....i cleaned the filter a few weeks ago and swapped in a new fuel filter too....how do i turn down the gas?? my check engine light comes up too only when i'm at a stop light though....once i start moving, it goes away?!?!
your ECU has gone into "closed-loop" mode, which is basically, there's a problem so the ECU tells the fuel system to go into limp mode and therefore dumps as much fuel as it can into your cylinders to make sure you never run lean and blow the motor.
Sounds like either an electrical problem like the wires going to your oxygen sensor to your ECU has fried, or your oxygen sensor is actually fried, or ECU, or it can be any number of sensors.

Tell FatRedCircle (Peter) to give you an ECU, an AFM and borrow a Oxygen sensor....change one thing at a time and from there, you'll be able to diagnose.
If the problem still exists, it might be any number of things, but try those first.
