better option?

1. Is it worth having a cone air filter in the engine bay?
2. In my airbox i have a little 'censor'??? i think it is. is this tru?
3. can i just mount this censor in a pipe going to a come air filter up the front of my car?
4. should i just put in a high flow, say K&N normal filter that fits into me airbox?

tell me what is the best option?

about the censor... it is in the top half of my airbox, its a little black plastic knob like thing with wires comming out of it.

air flow censor maybe? if i had a digi cam i would take pics to help out but i dont so you will have to do with my crappy discription of it.

what year is your car? It might be the MAF sensor??

go with the "cone" if you can, its better than a filter in your stock air box
