Unhappy ae92 with broken overdrive button

I have an auto trans (3spd+1OD) AE92 and I'm really frustrated with the broken overdrive button.. it doesn't do anything! When I push the button down there's no click or anything and the "OD OFF" light on the dash doesn't come on and overdrive gear remains engaged. Is there any way to open up the shift box?

Thanks for any help

Could be worse.. it could be stuck on OFF and you could be wasting more gas because you only drive 3 gears on the highway at 5000RPM, that happened with our old Toyota van.

I suggest you go to a wreckers and take apart an auto shifter from another corolla and take the OD button from it.

Unfortunately I need it off when I go up the massive hills when 2nd gear revs too high and 4th dosen't have enough power

How do I pull it apart? I don't see any screws.

You have to remove the panel that goes that it has two screws up front and two screws that are located by the two front sets.
