Question '90 Corolla DX Tach swap-in?

Hi all,

I am new here. My name is Aaron, and I live in Washington State. I just bought a '90 DX sedan with 148k. Like most of these cars, it does not have a tach. I can purchase the instrument cluster out of a '90 LE that has the tachometer for about $50. Would this be a "plug and play" swap, or is there rewiring involved? How hard would this swap be? Are the coneectors at least the same? I NEED a tach in my car! Thanks and regards, Aaron

yes it is a straight swap... if you get a cluster with tach on it it *should* plug straight in and work.. if not its not that hard to wire one up..

btw... try using the search button up the top too (the one that flashes) as there are plenty of other ppl asking similar questions..

Thanks for the info! I tried using the Search function, but could not find much info about the older Corolla tachs. Most of the posts were about the '93-up models or were about aftermarket tach installs. Thanks again for the info. Regards, Aaron

Just performed this operation on my '90 Corolla, and it is a direct swap. No additional wiring necessary. Plug and Play! Regards, Aaron
