Cool Project TZ-20a: It begins.

Well it has finally started, or more to the point, i have talked my fiance into letting me do it: Project TZ-20a, where i take a 1995 Corolla hatch, twincharge (TZ) a 20v silvertop (20) and convert to AWD (a)

There are a few obsticles to be overcome i know, but i just thought i would let you all know what i am doing and how i plan to do it:

Aim (What i plan to do and why):
As I said at the top, i plan to take my rolla hatch and twincharge the 20v silvertop, then convert to AWD. This is mainly to show people that anything can be done and also for the individuality factor. The other thing is, when done, i plan to keep the car as stock looking as possible with the only body mod either a front mount air-air intercooler (possible front wing) or a top mount water-air intercooler (using a hood from the AE-101 Levin GT-Z, which has a hood scoop).

The Starting Points (what i've already got):
- 1995 AE-101 Hatch (duh)
- 20v 4A-GE Silvertop (better flowing than the 16v and stronger than the blacktop)

What i need:
- AWD gearbox and drivetrain (Possibly from AE-92 wagon, 3S-GTE with custom bell housing or from AE-101 AWD)
- GZE stock semi-forged pistons and rods (to lower compression)
- T3/T04 hybrid Turbo
- Supercharger with electronic clutch
- Fully programmable ECU
- Intercooler (type to be decided)
- Custom tubing with one-way valves for the flow-control of the boost
- boost controler
- 440cc injectors
- better fuel pump
- money, money and more money!

Any suggestions/ideas are welcome and i will keep you updated on the progress of the project.

how do you plan to set up the turbo and sc...do you plan to run it with the turbo pushing air through the sc? and you do plan to use the ecu that knows there is a sc there to control it right?

If its like a traditional HKS Twincharge setup, the S/C will run at lower rpms until the turbo is spooled, at which point the S/C will be bypassed by a clutch that would allow the blower to spin without making positive manifold pressure and allow the turbo to start making boost.

The point is to kill turbo lag and have good power off the line, first the supercharger. then when the revs are high enough, the turbo.

I know that... but for the topic TZ-20a sounds better

That is exactly what i'm gonna do.. run the s/c at about 8-10psi till the turbo spools and run that at about 15psi for the rest of the rev range. The only problem will be if the all-trac drivetrain will handle the horses.

Just to clear that up... thats what the Fully programmable ECU is for... the GZE ECU is not too good at twincharge setups, or so i hear as it needs to engage the clutch at the specified rev range (around 3.5k) to allow the turbo to boost.

*edit* I also plan to leave the quad throttle body as-is by running the boost thru the AFM and leaving from that back, stock

If you're going to keep the intake tract before the throttle bodies, and go standalone, why not convert to MAP?
