Where is mtl??

You should have a 4a series engine so the easiest swaps involve other a-series engines like the 4a-ge and it's cariations like the 4a-gze and 20 Valve.

If your engine is carbed switching to fuel injection might be problematic.

4wd reply

I dont know about 4wd but it would be possible to make it rear wheel drive. I read threads on superhonda.com about how guy would take a crv tranny and put in their civics to make it rear wheel drive .I'd imagine it could be done on the corolla as well .

I think he is saying he has the AWD corolla and wants to swap in a 3sgte. Yes it's possible, but it will be a major job. Where did you get the awd corolla those are pretty rare (if thats what you're saying)

The silvertop is a good option that will bolt up to your stock tranny. I've seen that tranny hold up pretty well. The 4AGZE sadly will not fit.

If you want to swap in a 3SGTE, I would suggest using the Celica alltrac tranny, but you're going to need custom axles and a custom driveshaft. Other than that, it should work... there will be obstacles to overcome.

I would be interested in doing it, if you like. I'm about 2 hours from Montreal.

Dr Tweak took the words out of my mouth. I would have suggested a 16V or 20V 4AGE upgrade, if I'm not mistaken mtl is Montreal, there was someone in Ottawa about 6months ago selling a 90-91 AWD Corolla Sedan, very rare to find AWD sedans. He had a 16V 4AGE on it and I bet you that car was fast. I wanted to buy it but him being 5hrs away kinda killed it all. I'm not sure if he sold it or kept it, but it looked sweet.

Umm, no it wouldnt work too well from the 4WD tranny

The 4WD tranny isnt a strong gearbox either, a GZE, even a GE/20V GE can break it.

For an RWD conversion you'd have to make a new center tunnel, convert the engine to longitudinal setup.
