Conversion Kit - Rear Drum Brakes To Disc Brakes

Hi there!!!

I have 2002 model Toyota Corolla 1.8 VVT-i
I'm not very happy with brakes,
so I looked around and I see there is a lot of aftermarket KITs for front disc brakes,
bigger, better and so on but couldn't see anything for rear drum brakes.

If anyone knows site or telephone number (North America)
of place wich deals with kits for
conversion of rear drum brakes into disc brakes
please let me know.

You don't need rear disc brakes. Change your front brakes to Brembo cross drilled rotors and EBC greenstuff brakepads, that should be enough braking power for you.

you might be able to use the rear set up from a celica gts or you can have a plate made to hold a caliper where you want it. it's really not that hard. the only difficult part is finding the right rotor

Agreed. Although the newest cars these days have discs on both sets, the rear does'nt have as much braking power as the front. Get a bicycle with good brakes. Get up to speed and hit the rear brakes hard. You skid out. Do it again but this time hit the front brakes hard. You fly over the handlebars. All that really matters is discs in the front. It will be costly and take time to put discs on the rear. You'll have to fool around with the master cylinder, taking off the proportional valve and whatnot. Were your brakes always not too good? If they used to be better you could have a small leak, or just need to replenish the supply.

actually depends on ur usage... rear disc does matter...!

if all u do is to drag and go straight... then modifying the front will most likely be sufficient... but if u like to race on turns and things like that.... modifying only the front will probably get u into trouble...
as the motion of ur car is going towards the front... if u'll need to have better brakes at the back also to distribute the braking power... if u only have good brakes in the front the motion of the car will lift the back and cause understeering... so probably not a good idea to just mod the front..
