Unhappy bad oil leak

I have had an oil leak for alittle while and it has goten pretty bad, i havent fixxed it yet because i lost my licencs and dont get to drive my car very much, i just take it around the block to keep everything working properly and junk, anyways i thought it was the oil pan gasket but i have come to the conclution it isnt, however im not sure what it is. My car is a 93 rolla and the leak looks like it is coming from behing the alernatoror something, i havent got a chance to get under the car and look but i was wondering if anyone had any tips. Thanks
Tuck

If the oil is around the head, it is the head gasket. But if it is all down the front and bottom of the block then it is the front seal.

Did you recently switch to sythetic oil? because if you did.....and you have never ran sythetic oil, it will cause you seals to go out.

Yeah it has had the leak for alittle while and i thought that might be the problem so i did an oil change and it still leaks. PLus it looks like it is coming from somthing to the left of the oil filter. Thank though!

EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 92 Rolla, I've been using 5w30 Castrol drive hard oil I'm gonna switch to a 10w40 Castrol and see if it slows the leaking a little. I already put in a new Oil pan and gasket that was rusty and contributing to a constant slow drip when the car was parked. So now it only drips when the motor is on long enough and heats up then when you shut it off as all the oil leaks back down to the sump it leaks out on to the floor its in that same general area behind the altenator One mechanic told me its the head gasket. but wouldn't it be burning smoke and hince up performance a lot? Its probably the front seal around the crank right?

yeah thats what i was told aswell that it might be a head gasket but it didnt really make sense to me, mine does the exact same thing it only leaks when the car is on and it stops after being turned off a couplemiuntes, i havent had time to really look at it yet but i probably will next week, oh yeah someone hit my passenger side back tire and put a whole in it, i was ticked but my roommate is going to sell me his old rims for 150, they are just z racing rims frnts are 14 backs are 15, which is kinda dumb but they were on his car when he got it so whatever but then stock i guess
