Odometer Roll-over/Roll-back

I'm gonna get a dash cluster with a tachometer for my 95 Corolla. The problem here is that I will be getting the dash cluster from the junkyard, and it has more miles than my car has right now. I want the mileage to match. Right now my car has about 75k and the new dash cluster has 114k. How easy is it to roll back the odometer? Is this illegal in a way that I should be concerned? I mean obviously my car has no more warranty, and I'm doing this to get the miles to match, so it should do no harm. Anyway, how is roll-back done?

is it digital or roller? i think its the roller right if yes you can use a sewing pin the thick one to roll it back, on legality as long u put ur current mileage its fine because everytime u get it registered or get a state inspection they record the mileage of your car and its illegal! i did that to my 00" honda civic SiR its easy

It's not digital. Just standard roller. So will I have to roll it over all the way to 999,999 and then to up 75k, or will I be able to roll it back to 75k from 114k? I'm just wondering if theres a mechanism that prevents rolling back.

Yeah, it wont roll back... with a electric drill.. it shouldnt take too long to roll the meter around

unless the AE101 has an electric speedo/trip

How exactly do you use a drill to roll the meter? I've heard of this, can it be done?

You just drill it to make the car go forward the amount you want, beats running it on jackstands for 999,999miles

I just called my local toyota dealer and they said that they didn't know how to roll it back. Do any of you guys know how this is done? I took apart my instrument cluster yesterday down to the speedometer, but i didn't wanna roll it myself around with it cause I was afraid to break the motor that rolls it.

What do you mean by just drill it. It looks like a pretty fragile mechanism.

When I replaced my gauges on my 92, I removed the speedo/odometer gauge itself from both clusters and did the swap (old S/O in new cluster, junked high mileage S/O). Fairly easy and it has been working for quite a while.

just switch the speedometers around they can be moved from one to the other no need to roll anything back.
for my camry there are 4 screws holing it in place remove those and it should be free and switch it with the other
