well.... guess i'll show why i've been talking about GZE's lately....

it's for the 87 mr2 i have sitting in the garage.

the engine:

^^^ found out the tranny oil has been changed before... good sign

also found out the oil filter has been changed... sounds strange,
i know.... if you ever get a JDM motor and it has a Toyota filter on
it, more than likely that's the original filter.... i got some info the
day i picked this motor up....

the goodies i have found associated with this motor (but also concerns me):

^^^ TRD Japan ae101 motormount (tranny side)

^^^ TRD Japan ae101 GZE metallic facing (racing only) clutch
TRD Japan ae101 GZE clutch cover
looks to be lightened flywheel

^^^ my workspace

^^^ the only problem, however i plan to mix the parts i have to make my own axles

http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html
the ecu I ordered to run the beast (ordered from glensgarage
with CNC case, all needed hardware, power relay board and cnc
case... $216 shipped)

all 8 engines/trannies that we got at once

TRD Japan ae101 GZE metallic facing (racing only) clutch
Thats not a race only clutch because its sprung, race only clutches dont have those springs for clutch engagement.

That 3 puck should worry you, it looks very abused and the flywheel looks very glazed.

there's one bigport with tranny left.... my buddy with the ae86 sr5 was supposed to buy it, but he found a GZE block with 8.6:1 JE pistons and ARP con rod bolts and new oil pump (with honed block and balanced crank) for around the same price

in any case.... how can you say the flywheel is glazed? i don't have any pictures of the flywheel facing upwards

and the clutch isn't all that bad.... there's more than 1/2 life left in it

and seeing how i've built the ae92 to run like nobody else (and dyno'ing as good if not better than other 4age's) and starting from the ground up with this mr2.... i think i know what i'm doing

according to TRD Japan:
"CLUTCH DISC (METAL FACING TYPE)
For the serious racer or performance enthusiast, TRD offers a metallic facing for use on vehicles with highly modified engines that are used in the most rigorous of racing or motor sports applications. The facing is made of a special alloy that provides extraordinary wear and heat resistance combined with outstanding durability."

I didn't mean that it was for racing only, but built for racing applications.

it's the only chameleon color that's made (that we know of) by dupont and doesn't have purple in it

he painted it himself (looked good, problems elsewhere have cause the rear to look horrible... everything from bad parallel parkers to truck tires exploding right in front of him) when he worked at a bodyshop (and got the discount) and it's like over $200 a pint non-retail price
