Question 7AFE Turbo

I am looking to turbo charge my 95 Corolla, I have almost a complete part list, and almost ready to buy all the parts 2 start on the project. What I need to find out is how to keep the engine from detonating, (getting the right amount of fuel in the engine), and how to use the turbo with my stock ECU if at all possible. I will be running about 7psi of boost.

I have heard that you can use a missling link for a check valve, or also use a MAP sensor from an mr2 to keep the check engine light from coming on. Any other information on this would be greatly appreciated.

my email is Johndough911@yahoo.

If you really want to keep it simple, you'll I'd just go with the check valve and a FMU for fuel control. If you use the MAP sensor for the MR2, you'll be sending the ECU the wrong signal, and you'll get the wrong amount of fuel, resulting in a dead engine.

Will the ECU adjust to the extra fuel demand? Will I need to do anything to avoid detonation during mid-high rpms when it needs more fuel? and also, will I need to adjust the timing any? I have heard that putting in bigger injectors from a rav4, or camry may help in adding more fuel, but will this cause idling problems???

Tuning should be done during the initial test runs... cause you can't always predict how the engine will respond to certian things. Anyways... best to get a fuel piggyback unit, ala Super AFC or something. That'll make fine tuning and adjustments much easier...

Oh yeah... and to be on the safe side... yes injector upgrades should be done. I'm not sure about which injectors specifically can be used, but I've heard Ford Probe GT injectors, and 4AGE smallport injectors will work and plug into the 7AFE harness. An upgraded fuel-pump should also be used. If you want very direct information, I can foreward you to a Celica dude who has done a 7AFTE...

kwanza- that would be great if you could get me in contact with em. You can give him my eaddress of johndough911@yaho.com or the cell at 5016056671.

does the corolla have a knock sensor on it? if it does, does it turn on the Check engine light or what? Is tuning with the SAFC something that would require a pro to do, or could someone with basic knowledge do it?
