Talking Dome light difficulties

Has anyone else had this problem.....my dome light in my 89 GTS hasnt been working for the last few weeks....I figured that the bulb had died but I've been too busy to buy a new one....but just last night as I turned off my car the dome light came on. Is this my bulb just being funny and I should replace it anyways....or does anybody know if this is a problem for the corolla and even if I do buy a new bulb....I'll still have the same problem?

thanks guys.

it's probably just the courtesy light sensor on the door jamb, it either needs a little spray of releasant/lubricant/WD40, or replacement. mine are replaced, and they work fine now

i don't know about the wattage, but i've seen some of those aftermarket "bright-white" bulbs that really improve on the lighting on the interior.

i have a mini-neon stick, about the size of a Tetra-Pak straw that a friend made, and it's really bright. well, at least it was in my Jetta, i wish the Corolla dome was more 'centre.' i might add one i got from another gt-s closer to the windshield.

i might also add some lights in the doors, so when you open them at night, you can see, like a sedan

Mine was acting like yours on my 92. Found out it was the switch on the dome light itself that was basically worn out.

the stick is something my friend made, he's an engineer, that you simply wire into your existing interior domelight, or anywhere for that matter. i'll try to dig up some old pics from my old computer

also, Snip3r, since you're in canada, check out: http://corollacustomz.oaknet.ca/index.php?a=forum&f=5
there's a big BBQ meet next week sunday
