1972 3kc 1.2l overheating? HELP!

I have a stock 72 3kc w/ 4spd and 4.22 gears. I disonnected the leaky heater core and redirected it. Put 160 thermostat, flushed radiator, new radiator cap, not running lean, timed right, no leaks. Problem is on the freeway it runs about 225 to as high as 240. I dont go over 65, and I drive it pretty easy. Only seems to do this when its warm out too, under 70 it does ok. Otherwise about 195-200. Question is: What is a normal temp running range for this, and is there any thing I am missing to fix? Any help would be appreciated since I am having lots of trouble finding info on this engine.

does it have a clutch fan? also is the radiator shroud still there? and make sure there are no air pockets in the system.

i had an 80 rolla and my fan was bad so i put on a straight fan and it worked wounders.

It has a belt driven fan I think, but not sure, fan is always on. The radiator shroud is still there, and I just got it flushed at a shop (i was lazy and in a hurry) so there shouldnt be any thing blocking it or pockets. I hadnt thought about changing the fan, maybe a good flexfan, or a dual electric. Thinking maybe a 5spd also, keep the revs lower no the freeway. Sucks though cause I wanted to keep it stock. Car is very close to pristine.

it might be the fan clutch that went out you don't need to put on a flex fan if you don't want to
