Look for the closest electrical connection by your oil filter. It's hard to see.

Go to the top right on the Corolla forum page and in the search forum box type in (oil sender)..I found some threads there that should help...I had an 86 also and at about 150k my oil light kept going on and I was worried that I would have to replace the oil pump but it was just the oil sender after I replaced it the light never came on again and ran fine...Bad part is this was years ago and I can't remember where it was but it was on the side of the oil pump, but I remember it wasn't hard getting to and replacing and it cost under $10 also it had a wire running to it like a temp sender... I went to the library and got a 86 Corolla repair book either Chilton's or Haynes and they showed you where it is and how to replace it.....I'm surprised no one here has told you where its located because I'm sure many own that generation corolla...good luck...~Radd Guy~
